Terms of reference

1. To review current University policies, procedures and practices in relation to disability and dyslexia, ensure they comply with the Equality Act 2010 and implement best practice requirements in relation to staff and students.
2. To monitor implementation of the disability and dyslexia related actions within the University’s Strategic Equality Plan 2016 to 2020 and make recommendations for action that needs to be undertaken.
3. To engage with issues relating to disability and dyslexia in faculties and departments and make recommendations to the Equality & Diversity Steering Group about work that needs to be undertaken in these areas.
4. To recommend the collection of relevant disability and dyslexia data and undertake analysis of the data to assess key issues.
5. To ensure key issues identified through analysis of data are reported to the Equality & Diversity Steering Group and fed into the Strategic Equality Plan Annual Report.
6. To identify best practice in other institutions in relation to disability and dyslexia, make recommendations to the Equality & Diversity Steering Group about implementation of best practice within the USW Group and influence the HE sector on best practice.
7. To take action to address issues relating to disability and dyslexia and review on a yearly basis the actions undertaken by the group.

Terms of Reference

1. Review current University policies and procedures in order to ensure they work in accordance with current equalities legislation
2. Monitor the University’s Strategic Equality Plan ensure compliance with the Equality Act 2010 with regard to gender, transgender and sexual orientation issues
3. Establish working partnerships with appropriate external bodies in order to further foster good practice within the institution
4. To report on gender, transgender and sexual orientation issues with groups internal to the University, through the EDSG.
5. To consider and make recommendations on staff development opportunities and disseminate examples of good practice throughout the University.
6. To report regularly to the Equality and Diversity Steering Group.

Terms of reference

1. To review current University policies, procedures and practices to ensure they are compliant with the Equality Act, with a particular focus upon race and religion/belief.
2. To monitor the race, religion and belief actions within the University’s Strategic Equality Plan, review the impact of them and report progress to Equality & Diversity Steering Group.
3. To recommend the collection of relevant race and religion data and undertake analysis of the data to assess key issues, ensuring the key issues are reported to Equality & Diversity Steering Group and fed into the Strategic Equality Plan Annual Reporting.
4. To collect information based upon the requirements of the Race Equality Charter Mark criteria and assess progress against these criteria.
5. To report on, and propose solutions for, race, religion/belief issues through EDSG.
6. To consider and make recommendations on initiatives to promote race and religion/belief equality and disseminate examples of good practice throughout the University.
7. To bring into the institution best practice in relation to race and religion/belief equality and build partnerships with institutions where there is excellence in the sector.
